Allowing the body to recover after sports or a workout is one of the most important parts of training, if you don’t let the muscles in your body recover you could not only be putting extra strain on them but you could actually do some serious damage.
There is nothing more demotivating than having a great work out, putting in the effort and going for it, then having to put off going back to the gym for a week because the body is aching too much to train again. Not letting your body recover will slow down your training and in the end will limit your goal achievement.
It seems strange that muscle recovery starts before you exercise, because stretching primes the muscles, increasing blood flow and oxygen to the muscles, lessening the impact weight and cardio training has on the body. Follow a good stretching technique to the letter and you will notice how much better you feel after the workout.
Adding some Pro-10 BCAA’s to a pre workout drink can prep the muscles to ensure there is enough of these protein building blocks to support the muscles during the workout.
Do a slow warm up to the activity you are entering, this enables the body to increase blood flow slowly and raise the heart rate at a slow and even pace. When building up to a high energy activity, this will increase the bodies stamina and allows the muscles time to stretch and gain more oxygen than if you just went straight into training.
Working out is all about pushing yourself to achieve those self-imposed fitness and muscle gain goals, but there can be a fine line between pushing yourself and doing yourself some damage. Ensure you set progressive goals and mix up your regime to ensure you are not overworking the same muscle sets. Mixing up exercises also helps to boost metabolism and keep the exercises fresh.
Once a strenuous exercise has been finished your body will be craving nutrients, especially protein to mend the muscles that have been worked out. To help speed up recovery noticeably we recommend a post workout supplement with either a Whey protein or a casein. Whey protein is a great instant source of protein whereas casein is a good before bed time shake, as it is a slow to digest form of protein helping the body keep full and mend through the night.
